allover-2 Office of the RectorAllover Central Polytechnic has articulated its Academic Programs in line with National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) requirement for the award of National Diploma and Higher National Diploma (HND) certificate These Departmental curricular compliment the NBTE prescribed courses with the syllabi of the professional bodies whose multidisciplinary courses significantly accommodate the interest of our students on graduation. Some of the professional bodies include ICAN, CITN, CIBN, CPN/COAN, COREN, CIMN, CPA, NIM, CISA, NIPSA, and IPN among others. We have structured the courses to prepare the students well, to enable them pass these professional examinations with ease, at the foundation stage after their first year on our programs .we also train them to get their final professional qualifications from these bodies before graduating from the polytechnic with HIGHER National diploma.

We also run full/part time diploma and advanced diploma programs in various fields as contained in the polytechnic  brochure  including marketing management, purchasing and supply, insurance banking and finance, public administration, ATS, criminology/legal studies  , secretarial technology, computer engineering technology and other short duration certificate programs I the computer studies, as well as proficiency certificate program in management.

The department of general studies provides a broad based education designed to sharpen students communication skills, their realization of the need for cross fertilization of ideas and the inter relatedness of the various disciplines, as well as breaching the gap between the literary and the scientific. The purpose is to provide the candidates with opportunity to understand the scope of the courses offered at polytechnic and universities. These courses are in the preliminary National Diplomas (pre- ND) programs, National Diploma (ND) programs and Higher National Diploma program.

The department have included some courses in their programs to enrich the students knowledge and make them highly acceptable to the dynamic labor market. Citizenship education has been introduced to inculcate in our students the pride of our national identity while the ICT and data processing ii has been added t expose them to computer knowledge with sufficient partial orientation. The knowledge acquired from these courses provides our graduates with the skill to face the competition of the modern information technology driven labor environment and wide job accountancy, business administration & Management and computer science/ information technology for now while we hope to introduce more courses in future.

This document is most timely in the light of our approval by the Federal Government and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) in December, 2003, the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
